Rutherford County Sheriff Deputy who was in YouTube Video, A.J. Ross, is Deputy of the Year

Dep. A. J. Ross

The Tennessee Governor's Highway Safety Office has chosen Rutherford County Sheriff's Department Deputy A.J. Ross as their "Deputy of the Year." You may recall Ross is the deputy who became a YouTube sensation after a motorist refused to roll his window down during a sobriety checkpoint earlier this year (July of 2013). Channel 4 News reported in July (2013) that Ross actually worked at the sheriff's department twice, the first time being hired in 2002 by Sheriff Truman Jones. Then, former Sheriff Truman Jones accepted his resignation after Ross, according to his personnel file uncovered by WSMV, lied to Murfreesboro Police about having insurance after a fender bender accident. Ross was later re-hired under the new administration.

The man who filmed the YouTube video notified the Sheriff's Office that he did not wish to file a complaint against Deputy Ross. Sheriff Arnold further stated, "He did his job." The video has had over 4.3-million views.

Below - The following information is a press release from the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office highlighting the Deputy of the Year as suggested by the Governor's Highway Safety Office:

Rutherford County Sheriff's Deputy A.J. Ross earned honors as Deputy of the Year from the Governor's Highway Safety Office Friday.

Deputy Ross conducts Advanced Roadside Impaired Driver Enforcement training for the GHSO, said Tony Burnett, GHSO Law Enforcement Liaison for Middle Tennessee.

"He is Deputy of the Year because he's passionate about teaching, driving many miles and doing it without big pay," Burnett said.

Also, Capt. Egon Grissom received recognition for his partnership with GHSO and the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's Lt. Joe Gray, who nominated Deputy Ross, said he is a key player in the Traffic Unit who shares his skills with deputies and other law enforcement officers in Tennessee and the U.S.

He has taught numerous classes for the Sheriff's Office and for the Governor's Highway Safety Office in the field of DUI detection, standardized field sobriety testing and drug impairment detection.

"Deputy Ross is this department's only DRE (drug recognition expert) and as such has performed numerous drug evaluations for this department and for surrounding agencies," Lt. Gray said. "His knowledge and skills in this area also landed him an invitation to teach at the Tennessee Prosecutor's Conference, whose members are the district attorney generals and their assistants from the various judicial districts across the state."

He is also a frequent guest instructor at the Tennessee Law Enforcement Academy where he teaches Standardized Field Sobriety Testing to new law enforcement officers from across the state.

"Deputy Ross has performed brilliantly in his job as a traffic officer also," Lt. Gray said. "His rate of conviction is near 100 percent and he has made the second highest number of arrests for impaired driving at this department for the past year. Deputy Ross also never hesitates to assist other deputies or officers with other agencies with their arrests and stops.

He volunteers his time on numerous occasions to speak on traffic and DUI related matters. Some of the groups he has addressed include the Sheriff's Citizen Academy, Stones River Chapter of Concerned Bikers of Tennessee, Boy Scouts of America Explorers Post and several other groups and organizations.

Examples  of  'Rogue DUI Cops'  Making  False  DUI  Arrests

Cop sued for alleged false DUI arrests

November 4, 2009 (CHICAGO) -- The number of plaintiffs in a civil lawsuit against a Chicago police officer has doubled.Forty-two people now claim that Officer Richard Fiorito falsely arrested them for drinking and driving. As ABC7 first reported last month, Officer Fiorito is being investigated by the cook county state's attorney's office. The lawsuit also claims Officer Fiorito then perjures himself in court testimony after making the arrests. After ABC7's first story featuring dash cam video from Chicago police officer Richard Fiorito's squad car aired last month, he was placed on administrative leave and given a desk job.

ABC7 has learned that the federal civil case against him is about to double in size with 21 new plaintiffs joining it. And even though her office is conducting a grand jury investigation against him, Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez continues to use him as a witness in court.

The video below is another example of why you shouldn't drink and drive.  If you decide to drink and drive at night you are just one drink away from being arrested and tasered by a Rogue DUI Cop like Utah Trooper Lisa Steed.  Incidents like this happen hundreds of times every night because 'Rogue DUI Cops' do not believe that you have constitutional rights during a DUI arrest. Why? To understand how the MADDness of MADD has slowly eroded our Constitutional protections read this Blog by California Lawyer Lawrence Taylor, Esq. "The DUI Exception to the Constitution

NOTICE:  DUIstopped.US recommends that every encounter with every law enforcement officer be video recorded to document the turth.  Rogue DUI Cops like Utah Trooper Lisa Steed lie - VIDEOS DON'T LIE.

Utah Trooper Cpl. Lisa Steed tasers suspected DUI driver

SALT LAKE CITY — During her 10 years as a Utah state trooper, Lisa Steed built a reputation as an officer with a knack for nabbing drunken motorists in a state with a long tradition of tee totaling and some of the nation's strictest liquor laws.

Steed used the uncanny talent – as one supervisor once described it – to garner hundreds of arrests, setting records, earning praise as a rising star and becoming the first woman to become trooper of the year.

Today, however, Steed is out of work, fired from the Utah Highway Patrol, and she – and her former superiors – are facing a lawsuit in which some of those she arrested allege she filed bogus DUI reports.

"If we don't stand up to Lisa Steed or law enforcement, they just pull people over for whatever reason they want," said attorney Michael Studebaker.
